SURGEON & COMPLICATIONS

A career in surgery is marathon, not a sprint.
So let’s accept the uncertainties and continue providing best patient care as always.

Surgical complications haunt surgeons more than the patients. They test the surgeons inner peace and raise questions about the abilities/skills they have gained through a decade of training.

Things learnt in the due process:

1. While performing surgery, Fast is slow & Slow is Fast. (Stop running behind the clock)

2. Stop anticipating future possible complications. Focus on the present and do what the patient needs at that point of time.

3. Don’t assume 100% mental responsibility for all complications. Some complications are inevitable, even in experienced hands.

4. Discussing the complications, deconstructing it and rationalising are the best coping mechanism.

There is a wise note that “10% of patients seem to get 90% of complications”

So “You are not responsible for all of them…”

ہرنیا جسم کے کسی اندرونی عضو کا اس کے گرد موجود پٹھوں سے باہر نکل آنے کی حالت ہے۔ زیادہ تر ہرنیا پیٹ یا اس کے ارد گرد کے اعضا میں دیکھنے آتا ہے لیکن یہ ٹانگوں کے اوپری حصے یا ناف میں بھی ہو سکتا ہے۔ موٹاپا، حمل، سرجری یا بہت زیادہ وزن اٹھانے والی مشقت کرنا اس بیماری کا باعث بن سکتا ہے
