๐ŸŒŸ Is your child repeating phrases like a script? It might not be just "echoing" โ€“ it could be Gestalt Language Processing! ๐ŸŒŸ

Some kids donโ€™t learn language word-by-wordโ€ฆ they learn it in chunks or "gestalts" โ€” like repeating entire lines from cartoons, songs, or conversations. This is a beautiful and natural way to develop communication โ€“ especially common in autistic or neurodivergent children.

๐Ÿง  GLP learners often: โœ… Echo full sentences before using single words
โœ… Use scripts for comfort or to express feelings
โœ… Need support to move from memorized chunks to flexible speech

๐ŸŽฏ With the right support, they can build meaningful, spontaneous language over time.

๐Ÿ’ฌ If this sounds like your child, know that theyโ€™re not โ€œbehindโ€ โ€” theyโ€™re just on a different path.

๐Ÿ’ก Letโ€™s understand and support the way they learn best.

5 Speech Delay Red Flags Every Parent Should Knowโ€

๐Ÿง  Wondering if your child needs speech therapy?
Here are 5 red flags you shouldnโ€™t ignore (especially between ages 1โ€“3):

1. Not saying any words by 16 months

2. Limited eye contact or response to name

3. Difficulty following simple directions

4. Only repeating what others say (echolalia)

5. Frustration during communication attempts

Early intervention changes everythingโ€”and no, they wonโ€™t just โ€œgrow out of it.โ€

โœ… If youโ€™re concerned, I offer professional assessments and online therapy sessions tailored for your childโ€™s needs.

๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ฌ Yes, Speech Therapists Need a Break Too. And Here's Why...

As a speech therapist, we pour our energy into every session.
We hold space for meltdowns.
We celebrate first words.
We play, plan, adjust, adapt โ€” again and again.

But here's the truth we often ignore:
Burnout doesnโ€™t make us more committed. It makes us less effective.

When we donโ€™t rest:

Our creativity fades

Our patience shortens

Our clinical decision-making suffers

Our joy โ€” the very spark that kids connect with โ€” begins to dim

๐Ÿ›‘ Taking a break isnโ€™t selfish. Itโ€™s professional responsibility.
A rested therapist is a better therapist.
A regulated adult helps co-regulate dysregulated children.
A calm mind listens better. A relaxed heart connects deeper.

Letโ€™s normalize rest.
Letโ€™s encourage boundaries.
Letโ€™s show up better โ€” for our clients and for ourselves.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Why? Why? Why?
At this age, kids ask questions, imagine stories, and begin to understand basic concepts like colors and size.
That curiosity = cognitive power at work!

When we come across a child or an adult struggling to speak or being lost socially or emotionally we tend to outcast them. We do say that neurodiversity is accepted, but what do we include them? If a child seems lost for words or doesn't know how to react in a situation, we blame the parents for it creating a mentally stressed environment for the family. We judge the family based on how their child acts around people.

If you come across a family with a neurodiverse child, they are already dealing pretty much due to their child, ensuring that he gets accepted and gets independent. Then why label their child to be special making them feel outclass or someone very different. The child needs therapies according to his need and while he struggles to find the path in the crazy crooked world, he already gets traumatized by the reactions of the people around him.

Let's all try and make this space , a little more comfortable for the and make them independent.

I, as a pledge to help these children cater their difficulties and be independent children.

For any queries related to speech or counselling i am available. If you want to bring your children for consultancy then that can be arranged too.
