IBCSAD is the highest qualification board of cosmetic surgery certifying ABCS,IBCS diplomats & FRCS ( Plast ) plastic surgeons, and equivalent who qualify & pass the examination. ABCS, ABPS diplomats, plastic surgeons holding FRCS ( plast UK ) or equivalent qualifications are eligible for IBCSAD certification as a first step. Eligible candidates must have completed 8 years of plastic surgery training, with additional cosmetic surgery training, a 2 years Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship, 5000 cases of cosmetic surgery ( major cases ) with documented before / after photos and documents, must have at least 50 articles published in leading cosmetic / plastic surgery journals. Eligible candidates will be required to complete a research project approved by IBCSAD amounting to PHD thesis. After completion of the afore-mentioned requirements, candidates wil, be finally assessed to sit the written examination, consisting of 2 days of rigorous examination ( 12 hours a day ). Successful candidates proceed to oral examination. The oral examination is double blinded and candidates and examiners dont see or know each other. 90% passing is required in the oral examination. Candidates who successfully pass both written and oral examinations with grades 90% or above are issued certificates from IBCSAD.
