The Pakistan Society for the Welfare of Mentally Retarded Children (PSWMRC) has entered its 62 year of service for the intellectually challenged children. Initially established as a Special Education School in rented premises with 10 challenged children on its rolls, it moved to its own purpose-built premises in Gulberg 3, in 1985, with facilities for 100 challenged children. In 2012 a new buildin

g was constructed on an adjoining plot for provision of services to home-based children. In the early 1990s, our services were extended outside our premises and initiated a home-based Outreach Program. Later we initiated the concept of Inclusive Education in partnership with Street Schools of Lahore. In 2013 the Society commenced the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program. PROJECTS:

• Husn-e-Rozgar Program

The Society is now looking after 1400 Special Children and their families. We have now focused on new initiatives in order to expand the extent and quality of our cost-effective home-based services. Hopefully, it will encourage the adoption of similar services by other service providers. The PSWMRC now has a Staff of 77 and in addition, 35 Teachers in the IE Schools and 22 Community Resource Persons (CRPs) making a total of 134 Service Providers. The emphasis now is on providing home-based and community-based attention to intellectually challenged in a cost-effective manner. Referral Units:

• Sports Unit
• Autism Unit
• Vocational Unit
• Computer Unit

They have qualified and trained professional staff and apart from providing services to children enrolled in Amin Maktab, ORP, IEP, and CBR, these facilities have now also been made available to special children from outside our Institution. Our children regularly participate in the Punjab, Pakistan, and World Special Olympics. Future endeavours:
• Enhance Husn-e-Rozgar Program.

The training program for 13 CRPs, conducted from 1st October to 20th December, has successfully come to an end. The closing ceremony was held today at Amin Maktab, where participants were awarded their certificates. The Annual Exhibition organized by the Pakistan Society for the Welfare of Mentally Re****ed Children was a vibrant celebration of talent and inclusion. Featuring 25 diverse stalls showcasing mehndi art, bangles, handmade bags, games, and decoration items, the event highlighted the creativity of Husn-e-Rozgar students. اِسْمْ با مُسَمّیٰ تھے جنہوں نے بچوں کو معاشرے کا باوقار شہری بنانے میں اپنا کردار ادا کیا۔ آپ 14, دسمبر 2020ء میں اللہ کو پیارے ہو گئے تھے مگر ان کے کام اور جذبہ ابھی تک ادارہ آمین مکتب میں جلوہ گر ہے، ان کی دی ہوئی روشنی معصوم بچوں کے چہروں سے جھلک رہی ہے۔جسٹس (ر) عامر رضا خان ایک راست باز، اصول پسند، مخلص، ہمدرد اور درد دل رکھنے والے انسان تھے ۔ امانت‘ دیانت اور صداقت کے پیکرجسٹس (ر) عامر رضا خان ایک کامیاب زندگی گزار کرِ آسودہ خاک ہیں۔ ان کردار ہمارے لیے مشعل راہ ہے۔
جسٹس عامر رضا کا شمار ان لوگوں میں ہوتا ہے جو خدمت کا کام اللہ کی رضا کے لیے کرتے ہیں۔ ان کی شخصیت کی کئی جہتیں ہیں۔ وکیل ‘ استاد ‘ سماجی کارکن اورسابق جج تھے۔ آپ امین مکتب اسکول بامقصد ادارے کے علاؤہ متعدد دیگر اداروں کے موسس، بانی، سرپرست اور معاون تھے۔
