Sindh Health and Population Minister’s Remarks and virtual participation in Consultative Workshop on IPC Program and Costed IPC Plans with DHOs and MSs under USG funded Integrated Health System Strengthening and Service Delivery Activity

The consultative workshop was held on 29th October at Hyderabad on implementation of developed Infection Prevention and Control costed plans under IHSS-SD Activity in collaboration with the Department of Health, Sindh. The workshop focused on addressing the poor state of infection prevention and control practices in hospitals, particularly regarding surgical site infections and the need for improved compliance with standard procedures like hand hygiene. Discussions covered the implementation of IPC standards across multiple hospitals, including the importance of orientation sessions, team formation, and monitoring through a dashboard system. The Honorable Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho emphasized the need for continuous IPC training for all healthcare staff and the establishment of oversight committees, while appreciating the work done by IHSS-SD Activity in providing training and equipment with U.S. government funding to 57 hospitals in Sindh.

Contech is an implementing partner in the consortium led by JSI to implement IHSS-SD Activity.
