Using real-time X-ray guidance, the radiologist creates a small tract inside the liver.
✅Connecting Blood Vessels
This tract connects:
-Portal Vein (carries blood from intestines to liver)
-Hepatic Vein (carries blood from liver to heart)
✅Stent Placement
A small metal stent (tube) is placed to keep this new pathway open.
✅Result
Blood bypasses the scarred liver, reducing portal vein pressure and preventing complications like bleeding and fluid buildup.
