🌟 *OET WRITING TIPS :-
1) *TIME GIVEN FOR WRITING SUBSET*
👉 You will have 45 minutes in total
👉 First 05 minutes is for reading the case and understanding the task , after that you'll be allowed to write a letter in 40 minutes.
2) *UTILIZE THE READING TIME CAREFULLY*
👉 Use your first 05 minutes wisely and carefully , go through the task instructions , paying attention to important details. You should find out whom you're writing and why based on this information.
3) *ARRANGE THE CASE NOTES IN A PROPER STRUCTURE*
👉 First of all you have to write introductory sentence , main and secondary issue , any other details and request , issues can be medical or social , based on the nature of information provided in the case notes you have to make a decision (for referral or urgent referral etc.)
4) *INCLUDE THE POINTS GIVEN BELOW FOR POSITIVE APPROACH*
👉 Main Medical issue ( diagnosis/surgery)
👉 request/purpose in introductory sentence
on the information given , you should refer the patient to specialist for examination (but in a very polite way like a request)
that write all the necessary information in detail under the main medical issue after that describe the secondary issues.
5) *DISTINGUISH BETWEEN MAIN AND SECONDARY ISSUE*
👉 Please do not confuse the main issue with the secondary issue , if a patient suffers from headache and dizziness, you have to determine which one follows the other .
👉 Mixing ideas in same paragraph can result in low scores
6) *UNDERSTAND THE TASK AND CHECK OUT SAMPLE LETTERS*
👉 Go through the sample letters , read the task and try to understand the letter written according to it.
👉 This practice will provide a clear picture how a letter should be constructed.
7) *WRITE A SEPARATE PARAGRAPH FOR ANY OTHER DETAILS*
👉 Most difficult task is to decide which information is important that a specialist might need to know
👉 After writing main and secondary issues , be sure to write another paragraph for any other detail.
👉 This should include related information worth mentioning , even though it is not directly related.
8) *REFERRAL EXPLICITY EXPLAIN IN LAST PARAGRAPH*
👉 Even though you have mentioned the need for referral in introductory sentence, it is not enough
👉 Describe the request in a well structured manner.
9) *YOUR LETTER SHOULD TELL A STORY TO THE READER*
👉 After you have selected and organized your case notes , it is time to transform it in actual letter , do not copy case notes directly, important information should be written only , some details are placed there to distract you
10) *IDEAL LETTER*
👉 Letter written with in 42 minutes and consists up of 180-200 words is considered as an ideal letter
👉 Last three minutes is for proof reading
