Salivary gland tumors are rare, typically slow-growing, and often painless lumps or swellings in the mouth, cheek, or neck, with about 75–80% being benign (noncancerous). Most commonly affecting the parotid glands, these tumors are usually treated with surgery, often resulting in a high survival rate, although malignant (cancerous) cases may require additional radiation.
Signs and symptoms of a salivary gland tumor may include:
✅️A lump or swelling on or near the jaw or in the neck or mouth.
✅️Muscle weakness on one side of the face.
✅️Numbness in part of the face.
✅️Ongoing pain near a salivary gland.
✅️Trouble opening the mouth widely.
✅️Trouble swallowing.
