The hospital was established in 1934 by Indian freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai in the memory of his mother, Gulab Devi.

On March 24, 2025, Gulab Devi Hospital observed World TB Day with an awareness walk and an informative public session to highlight the importance of early detection, prevention, and treatment of tuberculosis. Prof. Hamid Hassan M.S, C.E GDTH, Prof. Zaheer Akhtar HOD Pulmonology, Dr. Amna Riaz; HOD Endocrinology, Dr. Saqib Musharraf; HOD Pulmonology unit II, Dr. Qaim Deen; Associate Professor Surgery, Prof. Arshad Mahmood; HOD Ophthalmology answered the questions of patients and their attendants in one to one session.

Doctors, medical staff, students, and the public joined hands to spread the message: "Yes! We can End TB!" Through awareness efforts, we aim to educate communities and work towards a TB-free future.
