Picture this; less than 10 years ago, this breathtaking resort was set ablaze and taken over by Taliban militants. This piece of heaven on earth was converted into an extremist stronghold, from where fanatics reigned their rule of terror. Unspeakable atrocities were committed against the locals during that period, including prohibiting children from going to school.
In 2014, once the area was cleared of extremist forces, the rebuilding of the resort was handed over to the Samson group of companies. In a short period, not only was the resort and ski lift rebuilt, but today, a ski school has opened up for the local children, where boys and girls alike receive top class training to train and one day represent the country in ski competitions on the national and international level, around the world-one day Insh Allah 🙏
You will not find many examples in the world of successfully converting a former terrorist stronghold into a thriving tourism hub. This year alone we have hosted numerous locals and foreigners at our resort, and held skiing competitions that have attracted professional skiers from around the globe! How remarkable is that?! I bet many of you did not even know it snowed in Pakistan, let alone that you will find some of the world’s most naturally gifted skiers in the world, hidden away in the remote community of Malam Jabba.
