Does Trigeminal Neuralgia Surgery Cause Facial Paralysis? ⚡❌
A common myth about Trigeminal Neuralgia surgery (MVD) is that it causes facial paralysis. The medical reality? This is entirely false.
During this highly precise, microscopic procedure, the neurosurgeon does not cut or damage the nerve. We simply move the irritating blood vessel away and place a tiny protective cushion to stop the pain at its source. Because the nerve is carefully preserved, the risk of paralysis is extremely low.
