The Q angle :

It is the angle between the extended anatomic axis of the femur and the line between the center of the patella and the tibial tubercle.

The quadriceps acts primarily in line
with the anatomic axis of the femur, with the exception of the vastus medialis obliqus, which acts to medialize the patella in
terminal extension.

Limbs with larger Q angles have a greater
tendency for lateral patellar subluxation.

🦴 1. Spondylosis
This is the wear and tear. It’s a general term for age-related degeneration (osteoarthritis) of the spinal column.
Key features: Bone spurs, disc thinning, and general stiffness.
Focus: Improving mobility and postural ergonomics.
🦴 2. Spondylolisthesis
Think of this as the slip. It occurs when one vertebra slides forward over the one below it.
Key features: Often seen at L4-L5 or L5-S1. Can cause nerve compression.
Focus: Core stability and avoiding excessive lumbar extension.
🦴 3. Spondylitis
This is the inflammation. Conditions like Ankylosing Spondylitis fall here.
Key features: "Bamboo spine" on imaging and significant morning stiffness that improves with movement.
Focus: Maintaining thoracic expansion and consistent activity.
🦴 4. Spondylolysis
This is the stress fracture. It’s a break or defect in the pars interarticularis.
Key features: Common in young athletes involved in sports requiring hyperextension (gymnastics, football).
Focus: Activity modification and healing the bony defect.
