V common issue in women of todays community
Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus. This misplaced tissue undergoes the same cyclical changes as the uterine lining, thickening, breaking down, and bleeding. However, as this occurs outside the uterus, the blood has no natural exit and can accumulate, leading to the formation of cysts (endometriomas), inflammation, and the development of scar tissue (adhesions) that may bind pelvic organs.
Common symptoms include:
• Severe menstrual cramps
• Pelvic or back pain during or between periods
• Heavy bleeding or spotting between periods
• Painful in*******se
• Infertility
• Pain during bowel movements or urination
Causes: The exact cause is unknown, but potential factors include retrograde menstruation, immune system issues, and genetic predisposition.
Diagnosis: The disease is typically diagnosed with a pelvic exam, some radiology tests and laparoscopy.
Treatment and Management: Treatment options vary and may include pain medication, hormonal therapies, lifestyle modification and surgery.
