“Joint pain should always be evaluated by a Rheumatologist.”

This patient presented with long-standing joint pain and severe deformities. The disease started 15 years ago, but unfortunately the patient was never evaluated by a rheumatologist.

With timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment, these deformities could have been prevented. Early referral can change the course of the disease and preserve joint function and quality of life.

Don’t ignore persistent joint pain. Early treatment matters.

جوڑوں کے درد کا معائنہ ہمیشہ ریمیٹولوجسٹ سے کروانا چاہیے۔

یہ مریض طویل عرصے سے جوڑوں کے درد اور شدید بگاڑ (ڈیفارمیٹیز) کے ساتھ آیا۔ بیماری کا آغاز 15 سال پہلے ہوا تھا، لیکن بدقسمتی سے اس دوران کبھی بھی مریض کو ریمیٹولوجسٹ کے پاس نہیں دکھایا گیا۔

بروقت تشخیص اور مناسب علاج سے ان بگاڑوں کو روکا جا سکتا تھا۔ ابتدائی مرحلے میں ریفرل بیماری کے رخ کو بدل سکتا ہے اور جوڑوں کی کارکردگی اور مریض کی زندگی کے معیار کو بہتر بنا سکتا ہے۔

Today I saw a 34-year-old patient who has undergone bilateral leg amputations sadly. His illness started with blackening of a single big toe, which was actually vasculitis from the beginning.

At this young age, peripheral arterial disease is unlikely. Early referral to a Rheumatologist and timely evaluation for vasculitis could have prevented this outcome.

👉 Digital ischemia in young patients should raise strong suspicion for vasculitis.
Early referral can be limb-saving.

ج میں نے ایک 34 سالہ مریض دیکھا جس کے دونوں پاؤں کاٹنے پڑے۔ بیماری کا آغاز صرف پیر کے انگوٹھے کے سیاہ ہونے سے ہوا، جو ابتدا ہی سے واسکولائٹس تھا۔

اس عمر میں شریانوں کی عام بیماری کا امکان کم ہوتا ہے۔ اگر بروقت ریمیٹولوجسٹ کو ریفر کیا جاتا اور واسکولائٹس کی جانچ ہوتی تو یہ انجام روکا جا سکتا تھا۔

👉 نوجوان مریضوں میں انگلیوں یا پاؤں کی سیاہی کو ہمیشہ واسکولائٹس سمجھ کر جانچنا چاہیے۔
بروقت ریفرل جان بچانے کے ساتھ ساتھ عضو بھی بچا سکتا ہے۔

🦶 گاؤٹ(Gout) کیا ہے؟
