Wo Kon he? (Ep01)
**Preface**
You now hold in your hands the second edition of *Safar-e-Hayat*, which has been retitled *Who Is He?* In this book, Dr. Abdul Rasheed Sial has unveiled some of the more intimate and hidden aspects of his life and shared glimpses of his spiritual experiences. These revelations are not only captivating for the reader but also offer insight into the inner forces and inspirations that have shaped and nurtured his personality over time. Moreover, the reader will gain a deeper understanding of the background that led to the writing of certain chapters.
I hope this edition will help readers better grasp the evolution of Dr. Abdul Rasheed Sial’s personality and his spiritual journey. A special feature of this edition is the addition of a new chapter titled *Who Is He?*, in which Dr. Sial describes the presence of an unseen, intangible force that he has felt accompanying him from early childhood.
Dr. Sial’s life is rich with spiritual observations, divine signs, and inexplicable experiences—so much so that as one reads through them, one cannot help but feel immersed in awe and wonder at the mysterious workings of the Almighty. It stirs a desire in the reader’s heart to also worship God in such a manner that would merit similar divine favor. But as the poet wisely said:
*"Such blessings are not attained by mere effort,
Unless bestowed by the Giver Himself."*
Indeed, without divine grace, human effort alone cannot achieve such spiritual heights. Yet, a careful study of the lives of those blessed individuals often reveals certain common qualities—whether innate or forged through trials—that seem to draw down divine favor. Traits such as purity of heart, patience, gratitude, trust in God, forgiveness, humility, and a spirit of service. These are all qualities I have found in the esteemed Dr. Sial.
Sometimes these virtues are innate, but often they are instilled through life’s hardships and trials—much like a farmer must till and soften the soil before planting the seed, tending to it tirelessly until the time comes to reap the reward. Dr. Sial, too, faced such trials in his life, but he emerged from them successful, aided by the mercy of his Creator. These tests became stepping stones in both his worldly progress and his spiritual elevation.
Dr. Abdul Rasheed Sial is one of those chosen individuals through whom God has worked for the betterment of humanity. He has previously authored several works in both Urdu and English, primarily in two distinct domains:
First, in the field of cardiology, with a focus on the effects of synthetic fibers on the heart’s rhythm;
Second, on the relationship between the Qur’an and modern science.
Among his works, the most significant is *Faith in the Unseen*, in which Dr. Sial attempts to elucidate certain Qur’anic themes in the light of scientific understanding—and in doing so, demonstrate the Qur’an’s superiority over modern science. The book references contemporary scientific research, supported by Qur’anic verses, offering reasoned arguments. Complex scientific theories are examined through the lens of Qur’anic text, revealing both the vastness of divine knowledge and the limitations of human science. The work invites scholars and scientists alike to engage with the Holy Book, not merely as observers but as seekers of truth, offering guidance for deeper reflection.
In Dr. Sial’s own words:
> *“Writing such a book was nothing short of a challenge for me. I secluded myself from the world for three years, spending my days and nights confined to a small office room, leaving only to pray in the hospital mosque. When a heart burns with yearning, divine guidance follows—and so it did. One topic after another opened up before me, and I kept writing. Although some scientific journals aided my research, none of this would have been possible without that divine guidance. In fact, if I say that this writing style did not entirely belong to me, it would be closer to the truth. Often, a thought would strike deep in my heart amidst certain situations, and my pen would begin to flow. In this way, *Faith in the Unseen* gradually came together.”*
Though the original book is in English, a selection of its key themes has been translated into Urdu under the title *Rumooz-e-Takhleeq*, which has seen four editions to date.
In exploring this field, I have also read the works of several contemporary authors, some of whom enjoy global recognition for their contributions on "Qur’an and Science". Their books have been translated into many languages and published worldwide. Yet, in my humble opinion, their understanding of science appears limited and somewhat superficial. They often rely on logic, philosophy, or conflicting scientific claims to counter certain theories—but such efforts, while they may impress the general reader, fail to convince those well-versed in science.
In conclusion, I must say that the presence of Dr. Abdul Rasheed Sial is a source of great blessing—one that has benefited his contemporaries and will surely continue to enlighten generations to come. As the late Professor Hussain Sehar once said:
> *“Dr. Sial’s work will be understood and truly appreciated forty years after his passing.”*
We pray that God Almighty continues to bless Dr. Sial with long life, increased strength in his endeavors, and continued divine support—and that his guiding presence remains with people like us for many years to come. Ameen.
