In year 1928 long before Pakistan came into being, Dr Syed Muhammad Hussain came from central Punjab to Murree with a vision of making a Hospital for TB patients of the subcontinent, after a painful death of one of his loved who suffered from TB a deadly disease. He than chose a land in the Village of Samli Company Bagh, Murree. Which is covered with Pine trees, fresh water from earth, fresh air i
deal for TB patients, it was heaven and an ideal location to make that dream come true. He was than told by the locals to contact a person who owns that land named Raja Khan Zaman Khan a very well known personality of that region. Dr Syed Hussain went to meet Mr Raja Khan Zaman at his house and told him the painful story of his loved and how they died with deadly disease which was impossible to cure at that time, and his vision of making hospital where TB patients of the subcontinent will get free of cost treatment. It was Dr Syed Muhammad Hussain and Raja Khan Zaman Khan who made this possible to serve the poor, Mr Raja stepped in and donated over 200 Kanals of his precious land absolutely Free of cost for this noble cause. It was an historic moment in the history of Subcontinent long before Pakistan was born, this is how this dream came true with the vision of these two noble souls. Six years later, the almost epidemical growth of the disease caused the Rawalpindi branch of the Red Cross Society to sit up and take notice as the disease spread rapidly. At time the society was headed by Mrs Kethbert King, the wife of then Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Mr Kethbert King. The plan to set up a Sanatorium in Samli Company Bagh Murree was finalized on May 8, 1935. Dr Syed Muhammad Hussain and Raja Khan Zaman Khan was approached by the Red Cross Society Rawalpindi branch for the buildings for that purpose. On 14 August 1947 after Pakistan came into being, the management of the TB Sanatorium Hospital was transferred to the Punjab Government, and the institution was provincialised the next day. The hospital has expanded and developed during subsequent years. Now the mighty 360 Bedded TB Sanatorium Hospital is now spread over 300 Kanals. Many TB patients from all over Pakistan & Azad Jammu Kashmir come here for treatment and they all get Free of charge treatment. The hospital also has a 24hrs OPD for outdoor patients to operate and tackle their day to day problems on daily basis and continue to do so.
