Important Meeting Between Insaf Doctors Forum Nowshera and BOG Chairman Dr. Javed Khan — In-Depth Discussion on Educational and Administrative Issues
Under the leadership of President Dr. Hussain, the Insaf Doctors Forum (IDF) Nowshera held an important meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG), Dr. Javed Khan, and other esteemed members.
At the start of the meeting, Dr. Hussain warmly welcomed the BOG Chairman and all board members, appreciating their presence and commitment to improving the institution.
"The meeting was attended by rcollege representatives, and NMC students, and HOs representative took place in a positive and productive atmosphere.
Following this, a detailed discussion took place on various academic, administrative, and student-related matters concerning Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex (QHAMC) and Nowshera Medical College (NMC).
The following key points were discussed:
1. Lifting the Appointment Ban: Recommendation to lift the existing ban on new appointments at QHAMC and NMC, with all vacant and acting positions to be filled on the basis of merit.
2. Acting Positions Regulation: Emphasis on the need for transparent policies and clear criteria for acting positions to ensure merit-based and fair representation, to be reviewed in consultation with the IDF team.
3. Faculty Appointments: Assurance that all faculty appointments must comply with PMDC and NMC standards in terms of numbers and hierarchy.
4. Service Structure Implementation: Demand for the immediate enforcement of a proper service structure and employment regulations in line with institutional rules.
5. Ending Contractor Monopoly: Call to abolish the contractor-based system and restore administrative and operational autonomy of the institution.
6. Timely Promotions: Strong emphasis on timely promotions for all eligible paramedical, nursing, and college staff, based on merit and service record.
7. Strengthening Academic Role of the Hospital: Reinforcement of the hospital’s role as a teaching institution, aligned with undergraduate and postgraduate medical education goals.
8. Medicine Quality: Concern over the supply of low-quality medicines and a proposal for collaboration with reputed pharmaceutical companies to ensure the availability of high-standard, safe medicines.
9. Staff Shortage: Identification of the acute shortage of both teaching and non-teaching staff, urging immediate recruitment as per regulatory requirements.
10. PMDC Compliance: Concern regarding the lack of action on issues flagged in the previous PMDC inspection, and the need to urgently address them before the upcoming visit.
11. Animal House Requirement: Request for the establishment of an animal house for the pharmacology lab, as mandated by PMDC.
12. Hostel Overcrowding: Highlighting the extremely poor hostel conditions, where 15–20 students are forced to share a single room, and calling for immediate improvements.
13. Student Meal Facilities: Addressing students’ food issues by proposing the setup of proper, affordable, and hygienic meal options within hostel premises.
14. Canteen Quality and Subsidized Facility: Complaints about the hospital canteen’s food quality were discussed, along with a proposal to establish a separate subsidized canteen in the college for students.
15. Establishment of a Separate Emergency Department: Proposal for the creation of a dedicated Emergency Department at QHAMC, equipped with a modern triage system for better emergency care delivery.
16. "Request for Urgent Release of Salaries for Unpaid House Officers
Many house officers are currently working without pay. We kindly request that their salaries be released as soon as possible to address this issue.
