The Youth Empowerment Club, University of Peshawar, successfully organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Session at Khyber Medical College, University of Peshawar.

The session featured insightful talks by Dr. Zarka (MBBS) and Dr. Faryal (MBBS) from Khyber Medical Complex, who highlighted the symptoms, prevention, and treatment of breast cancer.

Prof. Dr. Mahmud Aurangzeb, Dean of Khyber Medical College, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Focal Person of YEC, University of Peshawar, also honored the occasion with his presence.

Prof. Mahmud Aurangzeb appreciated the work of Youth Empowerment particularly in dissipating the importance of breast cancer awareness at every level.

More than 80 students actively participated in the session. Certificates, chocolates, and breast cancer insignias were distributed among the participants to mark the day and spread awareness.

The session featured insightful talks by ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐Š๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐Š๐ก๐š๐ง, Captain of Planet Pulse, Chief of Climate Action, and Advocate for Climate Justice, who spoke on โ€œClimate Calamity and Care: Building Resilient Health Systems in a Warming World.โ€

๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐‘๐š๐›๐ข๐š ๐†๐ฎ๐ฅ, a Human Rights Activist and PhD, as well as a specialist in Gendered Leadership in SMEs and Gender and Climate, delivered a talk on โ€œYouth Engagement in Climate Change.โ€

The event was graced by the presence of ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐Œ๐š๐ก๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ ๐€๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ณ๐ž๐›, Dean of Khyber Medical College, who appreciated the initiative and shared his intent to incorporate elements of climate awareness and environmental health into the national medical curriculum to strengthen future healthcare responses to climate challenges.

He also encouraged students to contribute actively, in every possible way, toward mitigating the impacts of climate change.

The event was scheduled at 10 oโ€™clock on 23rd October 2025 at the mini auditorium at Khyber Medical College.

Proceedings commenced with the arrival of the Dean KMC ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐Œ๐š๐ก๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ ๐€๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ณ๐ž๐› followed by a welcoming address delivered by ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐Œ๐š๐๐ข๐ก๐š ๐Š๐ก๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐š๐ค, Chairperson of the Physiology Department, and the recitation of the ๐‡๐จ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ซโ€™๐š๐ง.

The scientific program opened with ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐œ๐ข๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐€๐๐ž๐ž๐ฅ๐š ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐Ÿ๐š (Community Medicine), who emphasized on public health perspective of lack of physical activity on quality of life among adults. She was followed by ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ญ. ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐…๐š๐ณ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐š ๐’๐ก๐š๐ข๐ (Physiology), who discussed muscle organ crosstalk during physical activity.

The third speaker, ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ญ. ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐€๐ฅ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐š ๐๐š๐๐ฌ๐ก๐š๐ก (Medicine), delivered a presentation on Impact of lifestyle modification on major health indices. ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐œ๐ข๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐’๐ฒ๐ž๐ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐š๐ ๐ก (Orthopaedics) then addressed physical activity from an orthopaedic standpoint, and the program concluded with Associate Prof. Dr. Imran Khan (Psychiatry), who highlighted the effects of physical activity on mental health.

After the invited lectures, the Dean Khyber Medical College ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐Œ๐š๐ก๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ ๐€๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ณ๐ž๐› shared his insights on the theme and presented certificates to the speakers and organizers. The program began with a warm welcome by ๐Œ๐ซ. ๐‘๐š๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐ž๐ ๐€๐ก๐ฆ๐š๐ ๐’๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ข, President YEC-HHRD, followed by ๐Œ๐ซ. ๐€๐›๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š๐ก ๐’๐š๐ซ๐๐š๐ซ, Head of the Liaison Team, who highlighted the mission and objectives of the Youth Empowerment Club.

The final day (19 Oct 2025) of Pak HandsCon 2025 brought insightful discussions and expert sessions focused on Fractures, Fixation, Deformities, and Tumors in hand surgery.

Dr. M. Asif Aslam (Sweden) shared his inspiring journey of service through โ€œGrasp of Hope,โ€ followed by Prof. Syed Kamranโ€™s expert talk on complex intra-articular distal radius fractures. Prof. Tariq Suhail highlighted the evolving role of biologics in hand surgery, while Dr. Shoaib Javed presented advancements in managing scaphoid nonunion.

An engaging debate between Dr. Haroon Ur Rasheed and Dr. Haseeb explored the merits of volar locking plates versus external fixation for unstable distal radius fractures.

Session 2 focused on deformities and tumors, with Prof. Syed Kamran discussing management of distal radius mal-unions, and Dr. Asad Ullah Jan addressing decision-making in camptodactyly. Dr. Saif Kashif shed light on neglected Montegia in pediatrics, followed by Dr. Farmanโ€™s insights on upper limb tumors and Dr. Saeed Jadoonโ€™s guidance on preventing missed elbow injuries in children.

The 20th International Pak HandsCon 2025 commenced with great enthusiasm at Khyber Medical College Peshawar, under the theme โ€œFoundations and Frontiers in Hand Surgery.โ€ The event brought together leading national and international experts in the field of hand and reconstructive microsurgery.

The opening session began with Tilawat-e-Quran, followed by the Presidential Address and Welcome Note delivered by Prof. Khalid Masood. Dr. Zafar Naqvi, representing FESSH, spoke on the collaboration between FESSH and PSSH, while Prof. Mahmud Aurangzeb, Dean KMC, addressed the gathering with his speech of encouragement. The inaugural lecture on โ€œAcademic Leadership and its Dilemmaโ€ was presented by Prof. Tahseen Cheema, setting the tone for a day filled with academic exchange and innovation.

The General Secretary of Pak Society for Surgery of the Hand, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Seraj, Consultant Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon, was highly appreciated by the Dean and distinguished speakers for his efforts in successfully organizing the landmark 20th International HandsCon in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His dedication and leadership were commended by participants and guests of honour alike.

The scientific sessions covered cutting-edge topics in Complex Trauma and Microsurgery, including toe transfer for thumb reconstruction, microvascular small joint transfer, management of crush injuries, revascularization in limb saving, and super-microsurgical interventions for lymphedema. Eminent surgeons such as Prof. Mamoon Rasheed, Prof. Kamran Khalid, Dr. Imran Shahzad, Dr. Adnan Nazir, and Dr. Mansoor shared their expertise.

An engaging debate followed on โ€œPedicled Flaps vs. Free Flaps for Hand Reconstruction: Which Should Be the First Choice in Extensive Soft Tissue Loss?โ€ featuring Dr. Alamzaib and Dr. Hussnain.

The afternoon Session 3: Contemporary Strategies in the Management of Wrist and Tendon Trauma included a paper presentation segment where national and international presenters shared their work. Topics included:
