In accordance with Low Vision Awareness Month 2025, Pakistan Optometric Society has organized a workshop on Low Vision, which shall be facilitated by Dr. Muffariq Shah, Head of Optometry Department at Pakistan Institute of Community Ophthalmology Peshawar.

President Pakistan Optometric Society (POS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter presided cabinet meeting at POS head office Peshawar. Key decisions were made for the academic and professional improvement of Optometrists in KP. Tasks were assigned regarding new posts creation, career counseling and academic activities. The cabinet decided to celebrate Low Vision awareness month 2025 by conducting a workshop at Peshawar.

We are thrilled to have our esteemed guest speaker, Indie Grewal BSc (Hons) MCOptom DipTp(IP) Prof Cert Glau FBDO FBCLA. Indie is a highly experienced Optometrist with over 30 years in the optical industry. After qualifying, he joined Visioncare Research as a Research Optometrist and later opened his own Leightons Franchise in St Albans in 2001. Dr. Asad holds a Masters in Optometry, is a Fellow of IACLE, and serves as a Consultant Optometrist at Timergara Teaching Hospital, one of Pakistan’s leading public sector hospitals.

WORLD GLAUCOMA WEEK

The World Glaucoma Week starts today 11th of march till 17th of march 2018. Glaucoma ( 'Kala Motiya' in Urdu and 'Torre Uba' in Pashto) is an ocular condition in which the intra-ocular pressure rises which damages the eye. It can be due to various factors and it may not show any symptoms, but the common symptoms are Eye pain, Reduced vision and Reduced visual field. There is a screening test used to check the Intra-ocular pressure that help diagnose Glaucoma called Tonometry which is available in hospitals. We all should take out some time and go through this test to ensure that we have healthy eyes. Please contribute in spreading this message. Thank you.
