Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue that lines the uterus is found outside the uterus.

Endometriosis is more than a painful period. Talk to your physician to learn about the signs and symptoms, which occur in about 1 in 10 women of reproductive age. It is most often diagnosed in women in their 30s and 40s.

How is endometriosis diagnosed?
An obstetrician-gynecologist first may do a physical exam, including a pelvic exam. But the only way to tell for sure that you have endometriosis is through a surgical procedure called laparoscopy.

Endometriosis may be treated with medication, surgery, or both. We encourage you to talk to your provider if you have questions or concerns.
