It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we address the deeply tragic and unfortunate passing of a 6-
year-old patient, on June 25, 2025, at our facility.
We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. The loss of
a child is beyond comprehension, and our entire medical team shares in the family's grief during
this unimaginably difficult time.
In light of circulating misinformation, we feel it is our responsibility to respectfully clarify the
medical facts of the case:
Zunaesha Umair’s passing occurred in the operating theatre, during the administration of
anaesthesia, before the surgical procedure could be started. The child suffered a sudden and
severe anaphylactic reaction, a rare and unpredictable medical emergency. At the time of the
reaction, immediate emergency protocols were activated, and prolonged resuscitative efforts
were carried out by the medical team, in accordance with established clinical guidelines and in the
presence of the surgeon himself.
Throughout the incident, the patient’s attendants were kept informed about the developing
complications. Despite the emotional gravity of the moment and a hostile atmosphere, the surgeon
personally conveyed the tragic news of the child’s passing to the family with utmost respect and
compassion.
This incident marks the first of its kind in Medicent Hospital’s four-year journey of providing
trusted and compassionate healthcare. It is also the first such occurrence in the nearly four
decades of professional surgical experience of our senior consultant, Brig. (r) Arshad Chohan,
who has served thousands of patients with unwavering dedication.
We understand and acknowledge the family’s grief and respect their right to seek answers.
However, we are also deeply concerned about the false accusations and personal attacks being
made online against our medical staff. We would like to clarify that every step taken is supported
by hospital documentation, medical records, and CCTV footage, which are available to law
enforcement authorities for full transparency and accountability.
We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of medical ethics, patient care, and
professional conduct, and will fully cooperate with all official inquiries to ensure that the truth is
respectfully and clearly established.
Once again, we offer our sincere condolences to the family and pray for strength and healing in
their time of sorrow.
