Fundraiser for Iftar/Dinner

Once again thank you for your generous contribution to last ramadan's fundraiser for iftar. Several of these patients asked my parents and their attendants who were served food asked my parents to thank the people who arranged it. Last year we managed to raise around ~$4800 and even after catering 10,000 people we were left with $600 which will be used in this year's pool.

This year I am in Pakistan so will personally look over the arrangements however this year we will be only able to do it in the last 7-10 days of Ramadan. Its going to be the same arrangements where we distribute food packets to patients and their attendants at a local hospital. Please consider contributing to this cause again.

So we close the fundraising at $4800 raised with the help of 100+ awesome contributors from 14 different countries including our friends from India. This will serve a total of 10,000 people . We started off ramzan with serving 175 people everyday which has now increased to 460. Thank you to everybody who helped us reach beyond the target.

Even before we reach here more than 50 people already arrange themselves in a queue at the usual spot in anticipation, keep spreading the word so not even a single person has to be turned away

Ramadan Mubarik to everyone, here is a summary of the progress, currently we are serving 160 people a day, please spread the word so that we can acheive our target of 7500 meals

This is an effort to distribute Iftar/Dinner in Ramzan to patients and attendants of a free govt hospital in Pakistan who have to walk 2+ miles in the heat while fasting to get affordable food

Every 45 cent contribution provides 1 meal!


Motivation:

The motivation is to help people who are already in a difficult situation. This hospital serves a large number of out-of-town patients who travel more than 200 miles for free treatment. Patients' families practically live in the hospital lawns but they still fast. Hospital canteen serves unhygienic and expensive food and nearest restaurant is a mile away and thats where our help comes in. Everyday we go in half an hour before iftar time and deliver fresh meals to them in their wards. Goal is to provide iftar for 250 people every day which adds up to 7500 meals over Ramzan hence target of $3375. Last year a $1000 budget provided 2400 meals.

My favorite part of this effort is the grand breakfast that we arrange on Eid day right after Eid prayer. Almost all the hospital staff is already on leave and there is absolutely no place open in 5 mile radius. This just makes their day.
