3 STRATEGIES TO LOSE YOUR WEIGHT

Every time there is a new diet to try. Someone is always trying to sell a magic pill promising rapid weight loss with no side effects.

There are even TV shows that show dramatic weight loss results with severely calorie-restricted diets and extreme workouts. However, these crash diets don’t work and can be unhealthy in the long term.

Many people expressed great disappointment and felt that achieving long-term weight loss through diet and exercise was hopeless.

But don’t give up hope.

Television is designed to entertain. In fact, successful weight loss is a long-term process. There is a simpler, safer and healthier way to not only lose weight but also lower your risk of diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and even death. This is not a quick-fix diet — it’s a long-term lifestyle strategy.

1st strategy: stop focusing on a single nutrient, such as carbs, fats, or proteins. Instead, focus on eating whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes and grains.

2nd strategy: get adequate sleep. Sleep deprivation also causes an increase in hunger and appetite by raising levels of the hunger hormone.

3rd strategy: make exercise part of your daily routine. It’s okay if you can’t make it to the gym. Use every opportunity you can to move: take the stairs or walking.

It is a simple strategy to optimal health that gets away from fads and short-term gimmicks.

IS HONEY BETTER THAN SUGAR?

This is a big myth in our society! Actually there is NO difference. Sugar is sugar and these simple sugars are exactly the same in your body.
Although honey may have a slightly higher nutrient profile so it might have a little bit more minerals than the sugar itself which has absolutely no vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients.
So if you are avoiding sugar in your diet, don’t add honey with every glass of water, milk, tea and qehwas all day to satisfy your taste buds because honey is not a good substitute for sugar at all because of its high fructose content especially if you are diabetic.

ARE THERE ANY BENEFITS TO TAKING MULTIVITAMINS?
Vitamins are organic compounds needed for normal growth and development. All vitamins (Fat soluble vitamins + Water soluble vitamins) can be obtained from eating a well-balanced diet. However, some people may need more of certain vitamins such as women need extra folic acid during pregnancy, people with little exposure to sunlight may benefit from Vitamin D, and people on a plant-based diet can benefit from Vitamin B12 supplementation.
But multivitamins are not a substitute for a healthy, whole foods plant-based diet, in any way. The evidence does not support taking multivitamins as insurance against poor eating habits or not exercising. Consider Vitamin D supplementation given a large number of Americans noted to be deficient. Vitamin B12 is necessary for people following a strictly vegan diet. Of course, folate is incredibly important for pregnancy.
So you should eat a healthy diet full of fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, and whole grains.Furthermore, limit your salt, red and processed meats, and sugar-sweetened beverages; make exercise a part of your daily habit; get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.

SLEEP IS MEDICINE
A simple strategy to optimal health is to get adequate sleep following balanced diet. Most experts recommend 7 to 9 hours daily for adults. Research shows that sleep deprivation leads to a decrease in blood sugar tolerance and insulin sensitivity, increasing your risk for developing diabetes. Sleep deprivation also causes an increase in hunger and appetite by raising levels of the hunger hormone ghrelin and lowering levels of the hormone leptin.
So focus on simpler and healthier way to not only lose weight but also lower your risk of diabetes, heart diseases and even death by focusing on healthy diet and adequate sleep.
