اسکرین ٹائم اور بچپن کی مایوپیا: ڈیجیٹل دور کا بڑھتا ہوا بحران

آج کے ڈیجیٹل دور میں بچے زیادہ وقت موبائل، ٹیبلٹ، کمپیوٹر اور ٹی وی اسکرین کے سامنے گزارتے ہیں۔ اس مسلسل اسکرین ٹائم کا ایک بڑا نقصان "مایوپیا" (نظر کی کمزوری یا دور کی نظر کمزور ہونا) کی شکل میں سامنے آ رہا ہے، جو کہ بچوں میں تیزی سے بڑھ رہا ہے۔

مایوپیا میں بچہ دور کی چیزیں دھندلی دیکھتا ہے، اور اسے قریب کی چیزیں دیکھنے میں آسانی ہوتی ہے۔ مسلسل قریبی فاصلے پر چیزیں دیکھنے، جیسے کہ موبائل یا کتاب، آنکھ کے پٹھوں پر دباؤ ڈالتی ہے، جو مایوپیا کی اہم وجہ ہے۔

مطالعات سے ثابت ہوا ہے کہ اسکرین ٹائم محدود کرنے، باہر کھیلنے اور قدرتی روشنی میں وقت گزارنے سے مایوپیا سے بچاؤ ممکن ہے۔

حل:

بچوں کا اسکرین ٹائم روزانہ محدود کریں۔

ہر 20 منٹ بعد 20 سیکنڈ کے لیے 20 فٹ دور دیکھنے کی عادت ڈالیں (20-20-20 Rule)۔

بچوں کو باہر دھوپ میں کھیلنے کا موقع دیں۔

آنکھوں کا باقاعدہ معائنہ کرواتے رہیں۔

یہ مسئلہ نظر انداز کرنے کے قابل نہیں۔ احتیاط اور بروقت اقدامات بچوں کی بینائی محفوظ رکھنے میں مددگار ہو سکتے ہیں۔

What Causes Excessive Blinking in Children?
A large study of children younger than 16 showed four common causes of excessive blinking:

Problems with the cornea at the front of the eye. These include dry eye, ingrown eyelash, a foreign object in the eye or under the eyelid, corneal abrasion (scratch or scrape at front of eye), eye allergies, or conjunctivitis (pink eye).

Habitual tics (involuntary repetitive body movements). A common tic is blinking. Tics are usually caused by stress/anxiety, fatigue or boredom. In most cases, tics are harmless, and children outgrow them.

Uncorrected refractive errors. The need for glasses or an updated glasses prescription to correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), or astigmatism.
Misaligned or crossed eyes (strabismus). Strabismus is when the eyes are not lined up correctly, pointing in different directions.
