Establishment of EPI Centre and its success at CEmONC Centre
Paras Maternity Hospital and Newborn Care center established on 30th of December, 2015, Near Momal Jee Mari Umerkot by Dr Mohammad Tayyab Memon (Well renowned United Kingdom Based specialist in Anaesthesia) .Dr Memon and his team was objective to reduce IMR and MMR from district Umerkot by providing highly qualified CEmONC services and other components of MNCH. The Paras was also addressing to low socio economic community as the rates on other private facilities were too high. Thus Dr Memon with help of Sindh Doctors Association United Kingdom (http://www.sdauk.org) a registered Charity organization at United Kingdom (Charity No: 327015) and Care and relief foundation United Kingdom , Charity number 1152230 (www.careandrelief.org.uk) addressed this issued and founded this project . The project started from 30.12.2015, running very successfully and is going to provide CEmONC services to Mother and Child. These services including Antenatal Clinics (ANC), Post Natal Clinics (PNC), Normal labor, C section’s and Evacuation of pieces of conception (ERCP) and free monthly Gynae Surgical camps (Saturday and Sunday once a month). Zero maternal mortality since started. JHPIEGO started Affiliation with this institute in Jan, 2016 by signing MOU and initiate their capacity building, provision of equipment and supplies, technical support and mostly tried to establish a link with EPI Cell for establishment of an EPI Centre. The efforts being successful and District health authorities decided to review the progress of Paras Maternity Hospital and Neo born Centre and decided to fixed Immunization Centre. The Focal Person EPI Cell visited the center with Jhpiego team, the Paras team ready to hire a vaccinator for this purpose, provided space for fixed statistical center and all advocacy efforts in these contributions. Provincial Manager EPI JHPIEGO /JSI and team, district DIO,DC Jhpiego and Partners team started efforts including necessary corresponding and motivation for this CEmONC EPI Centre. Thus with the grace of Almighty ALLAH,EPI Center was established on 7th April 2016 after efforts taken by all partners specially DoH ,JHPIEGO and IP(RSPN) team. The following salient features are important to share,
• ILR was supplied by District Health Officer (Dr Madhuri Lakhani) Umerkot on request of MCHIP/JHPIGO team.
• Vaccinator was posted by Paras Medical Center administration on request of DC MCHIP and DIO.
• Vaccinator was skilled/ trained after the efforts of DIO from DHQ Hospital Umerkot.
• Orientation about the record keeping was given by DIO to vaccinator.
• All the antigens and logistics for EPI Centers were provided by DHO Office on request of DIO.
• DIO conducted meetings with administration of Paras Medical Center and DHO to convince them to improve the EPI Center.
• He also conducted joint visit with DC MCHIP and District EPI focal person to improve EPI center and provide services of all the antigens to the public.
• Although administration of PMC are not adopting accountability to run EPI center but after repeated visits (weekly) of DIO, he has sensitized and realized them the importance of EPI center in PMC where expected more than 200 deliveries(NVD,C-Sections) are being conducted in center/month.
• ILR is properly functioning; all the antigens are available there.

Through trough these efforts we are contributing for eradication of polio & others diseases and thus playing part in MDGs for prosperous and healthy Pakistan. Rawat Singh: (father of Child Saroop) we are thankful to the authorities who have established EPI center to provide immunization services to us. Conclusion:
Today when Paras Maternity and Neo Born Care Centre since its establishments is going to provide services about 1000 mother and child every month including 200 Normal veginal deliveries and CS ,thus the establishment of EPI Centre will enhance to save the newborns and under 5 children and will bring contribution in Millennium development goals by reducing IMR . Let us congratulate all team for this wonderful success and hope to continue these efforts always.
