Socrates Cabinet ft. General Secretary
"With the application of austere means and unrelenting optimism, mankind possesses the potential to achieve remarkable feats".

This is how I'd put into words my experience with SOCRATES so far. I feel like I have always been the sort of person who is inspired by stories. And each day at SOCRATES tells a tale of fortitude. It is truly commendable to observe a cohort of youthful medical students devoting themselves tirelessly to the promotion of mental health awareness and the eradication of associated taboos.

Iโ€™m excited and honored as I take charge as the General Secretary of a platform dedicated to empower and support individuals in their journey towards self-growth and passion. Eagerly looking forward to render my services in making a positive impact on campus and beyond!

At Socrates, our mental health society of medical students, we understand the importance of addressing the issue of bullying in colleges and its impact on mental health. Today, we held an open mic event on the topic of "Bullying: The dark side of college" to bring attention to this pervasive issue and foster an environment where students can share their experiences and struggles. By speaking openly about the challenges of bullying culture, we hope to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and create a more supportive and inclusive community for all students. Thank you to all the students who courageously shared their stories and perspectives. Together, we can work towards a future where bullying culture is no longer a part of our college campuses."

Spread happiness one note at a time! Today's Socrates' "art therapy" session was all about bringing joy to others through simple acts of kindness. We kicked things off by writing cute and wholesome notes to randomly share with our fellow classmates. The response was heartwarming, as each note brought a smile to someone's face and reminded us of the power of positivity.

It's amazing how a small gesture like this can have such a big impact. In a world where negativity can often overshadow the good, it's important to remember that even the tiniest act of kindness can make a huge difference. Let's continue to spread love, compassion, and positivity wherever we go, and inspire others to do the same.

We discussed our plans to spread awareness and normalize conversations around mental health in our college community. Our mission is to ensure that every student feels heard, understood, and supported. We are excited to continue our efforts and reach even more people in the coming year.

During our meeting, we discussed several exciting plans for the year ahead. Our primary goal is to expand our outreach efforts and engage with more students across the college. We plan to create a more inclusive community by fostering meaningful conversations and creating a safe space where students can share their struggles and experiences. In addition, we will be organizing a series of workshops, seminars, and events to provide students with the tools they need to prioritize their mental health and well-being. We believe that by working together, we can break down stigmas around mental health and create a more supportive environment for all students.

Today, our society arranged its first open mic of the session 23' and explored the theme "Reflections of the Past and Our Journey Ahead". It was wonderful to see so many students come out to share their thoughts and experiences in an open and safe space. As we sat and listened to each other, we were reminded of the power of community and the importance of supporting one another.

Through this event, we aimed to normalize and encourage open conversations about our growth and struggles. It was inspiring to hear the diverse perspectives and stories of our fellow students. It was a reminder that we all have our own unique journeys, but we are all on this path together.

We hope that events like this will continue to bring our community closer, and that we can continue to create spaces where everyone feels seen and heard. Thank you to everyone who came out and shared their voices with us, and to all those who support our mission of promoting mental health awareness. Let's keep the conversation going!

Independence has always been one of the most prized possession of a human. It has been a shining beacon against Hopelessness and helplessness. But for us Pakistanis, we scored the prize 75 years ago. Despite this country having its own set of troubles and its own setbacks, our hopes have never once faltered in the impending good days and we celebrate our independence with zeal, zest and vigor. On our Golden Jubilee, SOCRATES, alongside other activities, arranged to spend it with sick children admitted in Paediatrics Ward A and B. The children of all ages expressed their joy and passion for the colours of their flags, the green of calm and white of purity. Their happiness and cheeriness brought satisfaction to their parents and guardians and uplifted the mood of the whole ward. The volunteers distributed badges, bands, bangles, treats and balloons to cheers kids who couldn't celebrate the day with their friends. Badges were also distributed among the staff members who work for our sake tirelessly. In doing so, we enjoyed the essence of independence by celebrating it our way and spreading our ambitions of an inclusive and happy Pakistan.

Pop Culture is the widely consumed culture easily accessible, having appeal and consumed by mass youth. In a society of coming and fading trends, Pop Culture influences the tastes, priorities and morals of its consumers each day. Tech and social media companies, advertisement firms and social marketers spend millions of dollars and study the psychological aspects of these trends and Cultures and manipulate information to control masses in both positive and negative manners. This results in predictable dilemmas, patterns of confined thinking and delayed learning for an average person who tends to go with the flow. SOCRATES AMC Open Mic, while discussing these aspects, talked about how Pop Culture, Capitalism, and trend-setting put a bar over our mental health and how they influence our behaviours. How societal norms and moral ethics are intervined with it and how they can be used to turn the tables and be used for the good of a common man. The conversation was wrapped up with how every person's moral compass navigates by defying and accepting such normals for them to be a better person.

LOG KIA KAHEIN GY!
"YEH TOH PAGAL HAI"
"YEH SB ISS K DEMAGH KA FITOOR HAI"

That's the situation experienced by majority of overthinkers. And the irony is we overthinkers don't open up ourselves cuz "log kia kaheingy".

We don't discuss what's bothering us? What's making the life miserable for us? It's not necessarily a failure, physical injury or something apparent. It's mostly a word, a sentence or even a gesture which persuade us to question our existence, to question our importance and even life!

Overthinking is real!
Keep listening to others and spreading love!
Think before you speak cuz your one word can make someone's life miserable.
