“Aortic stenosis is the most common acquired valvular heart disease in adults worldwide, particularly affecting individuals over 75 years of age. It is characterized by rapidly progressive narrowing of the aortic valve, leading to left ventricular outflow tract obstruction that causes hypertrophy and, eventually, heart failure. Clinical symptoms, such as dyspnea, chest pain, and syncope, typically occur on exertion and indicate worsening of the disease. Without intervention, symptomatic AS carries a poor prognosis, with an average lifespan of 2 to 5 years.”
