A few game-changing insights from the Ashtanga yoga workshop with Adam Keen 🧘♂️
• The diaphragm is the center of our body for a reason — breathe with it, move with it! 🫁
• Flexibility isn’t the goal — if you focus only on flexibility, you never arrive at true mobility.
• In yoga, we don’t stretch out — we stretch into neutral. It’s not about pulling the body outward, but drawing it back with engaged movement. 🦾
• Ujjayi breath doesn’t need to be loud! (Imagine our 😦😅) It’s not about tightening the throat or neck — just gently narrowing the passage to guide breath with control and subtlety. 🌬️
These insights (and so many more!) are staying with me as I return to my mat — and honestly, they feel so right 🩷
Even though the focus was very much on the practical side of yoga, I couldn’t help but be moved by a few philosophical gems too:
• The spine is the bridge between body and mind.
• The key is behind you. (Sometimes we need to go back — revisiting the basics — to unlock deeper progress.)
Thank you, Adam, for such a rich and grounded experience full of practice, insight, and inspiration. And yes — fun too! 🛼 At one and only .yoga ❤️
