One of the most iconic belongs to Victor Cruz—a Super Bowl XLVI champion whose talent, joy, and cultural pride left a permanent mark on the game.
Cruz played a pivotal role in the New York Giants’ historic 2011 season, helping secure a 21–17 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, where he scored the game’s opening touchdown. Undrafted out of UMass, Cruz went on to set a Giants franchise record with 1,536 receiving yards that season. Just as memorable as the stats was his signature salsa touchdown celebration—taught to him by his Puerto Rican grandmother—a joyful declaration of Boricua identity on the biggest stage in sports.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey, to a Puerto Rican mother and an African American father, Cruz has always embraced his heritage proudly. After retiring in 2018 following injuries, he transitioned into media as a college football analyst for TNT Sports, while expanding his impact as a businessman and community leader. In March 2026, he will open his first Krystal restaurant franchise in Union, NJ, bringing the brand to the Northeast. Through The Victor Cruz Foundation, hurricane relief efforts after María, health advocacy, cultural campaigns like “Por La Cultura,” and his recent work with Discover Puerto Rico and the 2026 FIFA World Cup at MetLife Stadium, Victor Cruz continues to represent Boricua excellence—long after the final whistle.
