What about second snow in Texas?
All the dog coats here had sold out or had massive shipping delays so I whipped up this dog coat (details below) in one day for my pup. Sewing has been a fun little hobby in lockdown but brought a new mood when I made this, rushing against the big freeze, no big deal in other places but unexpected here. I was so grateful to have a skill I could use to protect this little loved one. It gave me a new, functional appreciation of this hobby that I’ve regarded mostly aesthetically up to now. It reminds me of the early days of the pandemic, when I hand sewed masks for us. A whole different mood.
Like I said, Texas is unprepared for this severe weather. We’re being asked across the state to reduce our power consumption to help save the power grid. I also ask that if you are able, to donate to shelters where you are, many of whom are doing blanket drives. This may be a charming sight for us or a mild inconvenience but it’s also life threatening to so many who weren’t expecting to have to prepare for this in Texas. Let’s help protect our fellow humans!
