Polarization is one of the topics that has drawn my attention, and the way it is portrayed in My Hero Academia has blown my mind.

Last season, we learned that a hero based society was not as perfect as we though, it also had violence and hypocrisy, but a bit more hidden. And I guess I've learned to accept that that's normal, that violence is kinda part of the human condition.

But learning to accept that, to go beyond the set of ideas that blind us and to figure out how to build a better society is exactly what Deku teaches us.

He invites us to see the shades of grey. To go beyond the hero-villain dichotomy. Maybe this can grant us the ability to build from a broader perspective.

Today, after many months of absence, we are back to share more thoughts, ideas and stories.

Since the start of this month and specially the 8th of March, we wanted to post something regarding the International Women's Day and the importance of feminism in the struggle towards gender equality.

We couldn't decide on a single explanation or way to describe the movement, theory and struggle behind this day.

That's what we decided to give the voice to some of our favorite women: Maya Angelou, Gloria Steinem, Audre Lorde, Roxane Gay, Comandanta Ramona, Laura Bates, Anna Sandoval, Marry Wollstonecraft and an anonymous quote written in Arabic.

Lately I've been thinking that I was too worried on changing my surroundings, that I forgot to put my feet back to the ground and see reality as what it is.

And it's true. We are not always going to do well. People will hurt us sometimes and life and the world ain't gonna be easy.

These are not reasons too stop working to better ourselves and the world. But they are reasons to be more realistic, to accept our mistakes and recognize what we can and can't do.

These past weeks I decided to start Attack on Titan again. The first time I didn't get hooked and I wanted to give it a second try.

It seems that the world has become more polarized. We can see it in recent really tight election results and in our daily conversations. Sometimes we even censor ourselves with a group of people or prefer not to give our opinion to avoid a fight. In the end, conversation and dialogue seem to be the ones we are loosing.

With this quote by Sirius Black we want to raise awareness about the complexity of human kind and the huge shades of gray we all have. Perceiving ourselves as the good ones and others as bad will never get us anywhere.

A couple of weeks ago we finished watching The Rings of Power and we loved the character of Galadriel: strong, fierce and willing to recognize her shadows.

It seems like Tolkien's Middle Earth is the endless fight between good and evil. But what we love the most is that it shows us how we relate to power. Are we able to face it as a tool for serving others or serving ourselves?

Maybe by getting to know our shadows we can be more conscious with our decision, our power, our freedom.

Viola Davis is a U.S. american actress and producer. She started acting in highschool and her first roles were in television series. Her acting career started growing when she won best supporting actress in the theater play King Hedley II in 2011. She received Oscar nominations because of her extraordinary performances in Doubt and The Help, and won an Oscar as best actress in Fences. She was also the first african american woman that won an Oscar, a Tony and a Emmy (in How to Get Away with Murder).

She grew up in a low income family and continuously mentions her experience as a young black woman and her dreams of becoming an actress. Today, she has also become an advocate for social justice and equality for women of color. Her various philanthropic actions include donations to her hometown public library and to the theater program of her former highschool. She has also collaborated in a project to eradicate childhood hunger in the U.S. 

In an interview with Vanity Fair she mentioned that when she was young she didn't have a voice because she didn't feel worthy about having one. Today, she has become a symbol and voice of many. 

If you haven't see her last performance in The Woman King, go for it. It's a clear omenage to her career and to the hability we all have to liberate ourselves from oppression.
