for a hundred generations i walked this earth drowsy and dull, idle and at my ease. i left no prints, I did no deeds.
then I learnt I could bend the world to my will, as a bow is bent for an arrow. i thought this is how zeus felt when he first lifted the thunder bolt.
little by little I began to listen more: to the sap moving in plants, to the blood in my veins. i learnt to understand my intention, to feel where the power gathered and speak the right words to draw it to its height.
that was the moment i lived for, when it all came clear at last and the spell could sing with its pure note, for me and me alone.
these words are from circe, a novel by madeline miller and they are dedicated to Y O U , on your birthday.
may we continue to get further within nature together darling, until we can feel the world from above as the birds fly. happy earth day lil sis.
