Porquê escolher Advanced Bionics ...testemunhos

I first noticed a more significant decline in my hearing following a SCUBA diving incident. I tried several hearing aids and adjusted the volume numerous times, but by 2022, I realized that hearing in my left ear had deteriorated further. My existing hearing aids were no longer sufficient.

I reviewed marketing materials from three major CI manufacturers. Each company offered unique features, and I was open to learning more. I chose Advanced Bionics (AB) for several reasons. The primary factor was their sound system and partnership with Phonak, a brand whose hearing aids I had previously used. Since the plan was to go bimodal with a hearing aid on my right side, AB's compatibility with Phonak was a crucial factor. Additionally, I appreciated that AB’s devices are designed for future upgrades without needing replacement. AB also has an excellent reputation for customer service and support.

The impact of my AB CI has been nothing short of transformative. At my 8-month audiologist visit, my hearing assessment showed a remarkable 79% word recognition. I am now able to fully engage in conversations at family gatherings, no longer feeling isolated. In my band, I can hear the musicians to my left and even the director when I choose to listen! During Christmas Holiday events (5 months after activation), several people commented on how much better I could hear. They were also beneficiaries of my AB CIs. Each morning, I look forward to "putting my ears on” and experiencing sounds that were previously lost to me. Even the annoying clicking of the automobile turn signal now brings a smile to my face. At 76 years old, I am enjoying life more fully. Recently, a neighbor asked me to speak with his friend, a man in his 30s who was struggling with hearing loss but was hesitant to acknowledge it. While I assured my neighbor that I wouldn’t try to "sell" his friend on the idea, I would be glad to share my own positive experience. His friend now has an AB cochlear implant and is grateful for it. As a fellow musician, he understands the profound difference it makes.

FAQ series, part 2/5: Is this MRI compatible?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, is a widely utilized and important tool that is used to take images of all parts of the body so doctors can diagnose different conditions.

Since cochlear implants contain a magnet, this introduces a potential problem for MRI scans. As you can imagine, a magnet gets pulled when placed in a strong magnetic field, such as in and around an MRI machine. That pull, or torque, can cause the magnet to move inside your head, which can cause pain and even potential damage.

The first of its kind, the HiRes Ultra 3D implant’s unique design allows adults and children to safely have high-resolution imaging, such as 3.0 Tesla MRIs, without any preparation, surgery, or head bandaging. The innovative multi-magnet assembly within this implant spins in place under torque, so the implant itself won’t be put under pressure.
