Passion
How often do we hear that we should follow our passions? That we should take leaps of faith? Because life can't be lived safely and securely?
And although I agree, life can't be lived with a cheatsheet so we never get hurt or harmed, that is not a very healthy form to live your life, particularly when you are taking leaps of faiths following someone else's direction.
I grow up having a very clear knowing that life has to have meaning, for me to stay alive. I needed to have clear reason's why I should be grateful to be alive, because I saw mostly that what I found positive and meaningful restricted, and what I found meaningless and negative or even harming me something that was pushed upon me.
This of course led me to a search for God.
Religion and Spirituality were in the beginning interchangeable and it took me quite some time until I found my home hear. Precisely because of this I have come across some practices that are less than ideal, some rather problematic atitudes, but what really makes my blood boil is spiritual abuse and manipulation.
We all have a right to choose who we follow, or pray to. We all have a right to choose the way we want to practice our Spirituality or our Religion, but it is when I have clients coming to me were not only there were misunderstandings or honest mistakes that led them down a path of confusion and pain, but when it is clear that they were groomed or willfully misled and emotionally and spiritually abused that my passion for truth and love will be really triggered. I hope one day be able to start a movement of people that can assist those that lost themselves, abandoned themselves because of the abuse and gaslighting they where subjected to in the hands of unscrupulous leaders of religious or spiritual movements, as well as therapists and teachers alike. We are all humans and as such able and capable to make mistakes and to misunderstand in any given context, but there are most certainly a different level of hell we are led into when victims are being so abused that they believe not only that they deserved the abuse but that they choose and wanted it.
For most people this might sound as if it is rare, but we have all heard about the pedofilia and sexual abuse within the Catholic Church, and of what apparently happened in Brazil, and the accusations in regards to John of God. And it doesn't really matter if it is rare, there is a difference between an act of love, and an act of power. As president Bill Clinton once so elegantly expressed why he put himself in the position he did: Because I could!
Any man or woman who take advantage of people that come to them for spiritual and/or emotional assistance because they can leave in their trail countless victims that will have a harder time to recover, and a harder time to trust and live a fulfilled life.
Then there are those who do not abuse sexuella, but use other forms of taking advantage of someones vulnerability. So with this I will lend my support to all those who found themselves closer to hell than heaven despite their best efforts in looking for heaven. I don't know if it is possible to accidently lead someone to heaven who wanted to go to hell, but if that is possible you still have my support even though I am not sure how to help you.
