A place with an institutionalised racism and discrimination against race.Africans are employed in armazem dia Portugal vialonga only to carry heavy objects and work like a lion. Each time one director will come and when you send directors without certif**ate and good education, what policies and better initiatives can him or her bring? Absolute nothing. Education plays an important role in our way of reasoning and the way we live our lives.many are in the warehouse practically just receiving huge salaries whereas those on ground suffering and waking up early in the morning every day receives a pea nut. How much is the salary of the director and other benefits? And what are his or her functions? This anomalies has been going on year in year out and no change.The owners of Dia Portugal s.a mini Preco should come to the rescue of this warehouse at vialong and sanitise the system.workers deserves better conditions of service and salaries should be raised on merits.many of this workers have no other means of livelihood. How can you dedicate your live, time, and energy in a company for a living and every 5th of a new month, your pocket will be dry? You will sometimes have no money for fuelling your car after expenses. How can you be waking up by 4 am every day leaving behind your wife and kids to be receiving pea nuts salary. Our so called directors are aware of the sufferings and ways of changing it to the better but lack the will and implementation.I am not saying all this to please anyone because one time in our meetings I warned the director that I am different from others because I will make my situation and the situation of others who are dieng in silence heard.This is the beginning my cry shall draw the attention of the president of Portugal and even the European parliament. I remember some of the ethics that guides our company but today, to get employed, you must know one of the chiefs or your uncle, niece or aunt is working there and make way for you. The system that is been used to promote workers is outdated, discriminatory and awkward. Any enterprising multi national company that wants to grow and compete in this 21st century ought not to function this way.someone because of his position should not marginalise other workers by stealing his colleagues wife, within two months of relationship promote her to chef and gives her a department to manage, within few months, appoints all his child hood friends and relatives to better and higher positions thereby undermining the process.it is wrong and no one says nothing about it for fear of reprisal. It is only in our warehouse that pickers that lifts heavy loads 8 hours a day can out of tiredness and hunger pick a biscuit on the floor and eat in other to have strength before going home and if he or she was unfortunate and was caught by the camera the management will send him home without benefits. But those that are chefs don't come down to pick anything to eat or drink but in there houses they have all our products. There own system is different because they are in charge.in our warehouse, a picker will finish an order of around 3 combos check the weight and place the computerised stickers only to be called after 4 hours and be embarrassed by one chef in charge asking where did he keep the order? Meaning the 4 combis has been stolen. He will be ordered to prepare a fresh one.it is in this warehouse that don't give workers there rights as stated by the laboural law of Portuguese. In 2001 when my wife put to bed, I was denied of my right of paternity just because I didn't knew the language very well and even my rights as a worker. In the developed countries the company will inform you but in my own case, no one let me know.i allowed my wife to enter the ambulance alone during the time she was about to put to bed without accompanying her. She was in the labour room with pains and no company everyone was asking her where is your husband? She said I went to work. Up till the time I realised that I have the right to accompany my wife to the hospital, I then went to see if I can be compensated but was told that is over a year that it is now a past tense.it is in this company that a worker woke up by 5 am in the morning to dress and go to work and had an attack and it was stroke, yet the management instead of directing me to our insurance company, said it was a natural sickness.it was this same company that can't send company delegates to visit me in the hospital but after 2 years of sickness. By the very first day I appeared at work, the management called on me to send me home. They gave me some conditions to go I vehemently refused there peanut offer.it is in this warehouse that 90 percent of workers are unhappy but cannot speak out. All this anomalies needs urgent corrections before one day this suffering workers might decide to shut down there activities for a week then let those on ties and suits do the hard work. I stop so far and will come again with updates. It is only in our company that yearly pea nut addition to workers salaries are denied to all workers. The compulsory ten years special hike in salaries were given to a few.it is only in this warehouse that the new national minimum wage is 685 and a worker with an active service of 18 years still receives 650 euros. It is only here that the workers uniforms are given some cases every 2 years instead of every 6 months.it is also notable that a company that has different departments, is only pickers that are more valued and other workers are less valued.
