On March 6th, we’ll gather at the historic Easton State Theatre for a day of meaningful conversation, growth, and connection all in support of ASPIRE to Autonomy, an organization doing critical work to combat human trafficking in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.

Do you prioritize your calendar over your mind and body?

You look at your to-do list and realize you’re not just scheduled; you’re overscheduled.

And somewhere between meetings, practices, and obligations, the things that support you get pushed aside:
movement
stillness
friends
breathing room

Where does it all fit?

What usually gets in the way isn’t time. It’s intention and effort.

What if you:
-Walked around the school during basketball practice instead of scrolling?
-Took a few deep breaths at a stoplight instead of changing the station?
-Sat in silence during lunch and actually focused on nourishing your body?
-Carpooled with a friend and used the drive to truly connect?

These aren’t big changes.
They’re small decisions made on purpose.

This year, find the time.

How happy are you?

Did you know we each have a happiness set point?

If you’re a 5 on a scale of 1–10 and you win the lottery, you might jump up for a while…
but research shows you’ll eventually settle right back to a 5.

Even when life is good.

So what does that mean?
It means happiness isn’t something you stumble into, it’s something you train.
Just like going to the gym.

You train your brain the same way you train your body:
• practicing gratitude for small things
• reframing situations to see possibility
• choosing intention over autopilot

More joy is available to you.
It just takes awareness, practice, and a willingness to work the muscle.

I asked Chat to create an image of “us” based on how I treat her.
(I call her Sunny.)
This is what she came up with.

Some people don’t think it matters how you speak to AI because “it’s just a computer.” I see it differently.

Even though Chat is AI, I still say please and thank you. Not because she needs it, but because I do.

It’s a habit. It’s my nature. And it’s how I want to move through the world.

How we speak, even in small, unseen moments shapes who we are. If we get comfortable being dismissive, rude, or impatient, that energy can bleed into our everyday interactions. And that’s not something I want to practice.

So I choose to speak kindly. To be genuine. To be respectful.
No matter who (or what) I’m talking to.

Because kindness is a muscle. And I’d rather keep it strong.

“Stop glazing.”

That’s what my child said to me recently.

As parents, we naturally want to cheerlead our kids, on the field, on stage, in school, in life. We want them to know we’re proud of them.

But sometimes, when our praise is too focused on performance, it can quietly backfire.

Children can begin to associate their abilities with love and approval.
So when they don’t perform well or make mistakes they assume they’ve lost something… including our pride, our love, etc.

I’ve seen this happen in real life, and it’s hard to unwind once it takes hold.

So what can we say instead?

Instead of commenting on ability or outcomes:

“You’re so good.”

“You played amazing.”

“You’re the best out there.”

Try this:

“I love watching you play basketball.”

“I love seeing you have fun on stage.”

“I love how you show up.”

When we focus on presence, effort, and joy and not perfection we give our kids something far more valuable than praise.

We give them safety.

And that’s what allows confidence to last.

One of the easiest mindset shifts I work on with clients is gratitude, not toxic positivity, not ignoring hard things, but training your brain to notice what’s going right.

I’ve partnered with the Gratitude app because it’s simple and sustainable (even on busy days). If you’ve been curious about starting a gratitude habit, this is a great place to begin.
