I along with my wonderful and dedicated sidekick/ nurse, Maybelyn DelaCruz, are excited to launch this page and tell you about ourselves and our services here at Health and Wellness with Dr. Sumaiya Zobairi
Just to let you know a little about myself and my scope of practice, I am a diplomate of American Board of Family Medicine. I graduated from Aga Khan University Medical College and went on to
do residency at The University Health Science Center Houston (UTHSCH) Department of Family and Community Medicine. I also have a Masters in Public Health in International and Family Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. I have over 15 years experience in the field of Family Medicine. I am a firm believer in a holistic approach to health with a strong focus on preventative care. I believe that first and foremost, lifestyle intervention is the key to individual well-being. I consider myself to be a partner in promoting the health of my patients, where each individual patient is an active participant; it’s only through a strong partnership and a collaborative patient-physician relationship that one can achieve sustainable health benefits. May Dela Cruz is my wonderful, dedicated, enthusiastic and extremely caring nurse. Those of you who have met May know that she is quite amazing and I feel extremely fortunate to be working with her. May is from the Phillipines and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree in 2005 from Manila. She has worked in both the UAE and Singapore and has been with me at Tadawi for a little over a year. As a team, May and I work together and hope to give you the best possible care! For those unfamiliar with the field of Family Medicine, it is a field of medicine that is all encompassing: it includes the care of patients from birth to adulthood. I care for a wide range of issues from acute illnesses that manifest with symptoms ranging from fever, sore throat, cough, congestion, ear pain to symptoms of shortness of breath, chest pain, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, musculoskeletal aches, and rashes as well as more chronic disease processes like hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, asthma, and COPD. I have a strong focus on preventative care which include general physicals for men, well women exams (breast exams, pap smears), sports physicals, and immunizations. I have a special interest in lifestyle interventions, women’s health, emotional and mental wellness. Our clinic is located at the KG Roundabout/ Old Traffic Light Roundabout (at the intersection of Jasim bin Hamad and Al Jazeera Al Arabiya) and housed within Tadawi Medical Center. The clinic number is 44880887. At the moment my clinic hours are Sun, Mon, Wed and Thursday 9-4:00. We are extremely honored to serve the wonderfully diverse global villagers of Doha! Yours in health,
Dr Sumaiya Zobairi
