The human body is an extraordinary machine, led by an amazing computer – the mind. My work aims to optimize the connection between the two with an easy, fundamental act: breathing. As a physician, I have dealt directly with complex cases, ranging from medical emergencies to providing care to those suffering from chronic illnesses. Working directly with patients has made me highly aware that, in addition to delivering the best medical support, my work can be boosted by a wellbeing-focused approach, which tackles important issues such as stress, fear, pain, and a lack of relaxation. For me, the best answer came in the form of Breatheology, a methodology that combines breathing and breath-work techniques with meditation and visualization in order to optimize the nervous system towards the state of flow. Gaining mastery over a mostly automatic act such as breathing can be incredibly empowering, and the multidisciplinary expertise developed within fields, ranging from athletics to study of human physiology, makes this ever more effective. After learning a wide variety of breathing techniques myself during my freediving training, I decided to take my skills to the next level so that I can teach others and harness my own medical background in order to provide scientifically informed, personalized training programs. I am now the first Romanian to be certified as a Breatheology instructor, having learned directly from 4 times Freediving World Champion and multiple Guinness World Record holder Stig Severinsen. I am now determined to take my knowledge and experience further in order to help individuals manage their stress and optimize performance in their chosen field.
