Back in Madrid.

The PAIN Summit in surgery of the neuropathic pain organized by Dr. Francisco del Piñal, brought together experts from all over the world to talk about something we face every day: pain. Its mechanisms, its complexity, and how we can treat it better, smarter, and more scientifically.

Sitting there, listening, learning… I was reminded again how much this field keeps evolving and how important it is to keep pushing forward.
I am truly grateful for all the friends who were there, it was also a beautiful reunion with dear friends from Spain and beyond.
A special full-circle moment for me was remembering October 2025, when, as President of the Romanian Society for Hand Surgery, I had the honor of naming Dr. del Piñal an Honorary Member. A small gesture for someone who has had such a big impact in hand surgery and also on my journey.

I return to my clinic with new energy, new ideas, and one clear goal: to offer my patients better solutions, especially when it comes to pain.

Always learning. Always moving forward.

Some moments shape your entire career.

In 2018, I had the privilege of spending one of the most defining periods of my professional journey in Madrid, alongside Dr. Francisco del Piñal. Those months changed the way I see hand surgery.

He is an incredible human being adaptable, visionary, a true “chameleon” in surgery, and undoubtedly one of the best in the world. A mentor who doesn’t just teach techniques, but transforms perspectives.

Yesterday, I had the joy of visiting his clinic again and spending a few hours observing consultations. The same brilliance, the same creativity, the same ability to find elegant solutions for the most complex cases.

Săptămâna trecută am avut onoarea de a fi invitat ca faculty la cea de-a 13-a ediție a unuia dintre cele mai prestigioase cursuri de chirurgia mâinii la nivel mondial – Madrid Wrist Course.
Mulțumesc Prof. Dr. pentru încredere și pentru această oportunitate. A fost un privilegiu să fac parte dintr-o echipă internațională de elită și să contribui la formarea a peste 100 de chirurgi din întreaga lume, în cadrul sesiunilor intensive de artroscopie pe specimene cadaverice.
În cadrul cursului am prezentat experiența mea în artroscopia pentru două patologii frecvente, dar provocatoare:
Rezecția artroscopică a capului ulnar – wafer procedure
Tratamentul artroscopic al osteonecrozei avasculare de semilunar – Maladia Kienböck
Artroscopia de pumn reprezintă viitorul chirurgiei minim invazive în această regiune anatomică, oferind precizie, recuperare rapidă și rezultate superioare pentru pacienți.
România este deja prezentă și respectată în comunitatea internațională a chirurgiei mâinii, iar misiunea mea rămâne constantă: să contribui activ la dezvoltarea și promovarea acestei specialități la cel mai înalt standard profesional.

La final de an, simt nevoia să vă mulțumesc din inimă pentru încrederea pe care mi-ați oferit-o. Fiecare pacient, fiecare mână pe care am avut grijă să o tratez, poartă o poveste, o teamă, o speranță. Dincolo de tehnică și precizie, chirurgia mâinii înseamnă empatie, răbdare și respect profund pentru viața de zi cu zi a fiecărui om.

Este o mare responsabilitate să contribui la redarea funcționalității, a independenței și, uneori, a bucuriei de a face din nou lucruri simple. Pentru mine, acesta rămâne cel mai mare câștig.

Vă doresc sărbători cu liniște în suflet, un Crăciun fericit, plin de căldură, și un An Nou mai bun, cu sănătate, speranță și mâini care să poată îmbrățișa, crea și merge mai departe fără durere.
