Health Bridge: New Equipment — New Opportunities for Kolomyia Central District Hospital
Improving the quality of medical services is the key objective of the project Health Bridge for Cross-Border Communities. Its implementation at Kolomyia Central District Hospital has been ongoing for over a year, and the results are already clearly visible.
During this time, the hospital has been equipped with an anesthesia machine with a ventilator, an ultrasound system, modern surgical lamps, two sterilizers, and three electrocardiographs. This equipment is already helping doctors provide higher-quality care to patients.
Another important step lies ahead: the procurement of a laparoscopic tower is nearing completion, which will open up new opportunities for performing modern minimally invasive surgeries.
“Medical equipment does not stand still – it evolves rapidly. If we do not update it, we will fall far behind. This is needed not only for me or my colleagues, but also for the younger generation – they must learn to work with modern technology. Everything new is excellent,” emphasizes Volodymyr Debenko, Head of the Surgical Department of the hospital.
The project continues to move forward: new procurements are being prepared, a cross-border epidemiological study is underway, and regular online meetings with partners – hospitals from Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia – are ongoing.
“This project is truly important for us. It is not about abstract changes – it is about concrete improvements that are already helping doctors do their jobs better today. New equipment means more opportunities for diagnosis and treatment, and therefore better outcomes for patients. Equally important for us is the exchange of experience with colleagues from other countries – it is an opportunity to learn, adopt best practices, and move forward,” emphasizes Andrii Koshkin, General Director of Kolomyia Central District Hospital.
The main objectives of the project are to create an attractive cross-border region built on the foundation of a healthy family. This represents a comprehensive vision aimed at promoting the well-being and prosperity of communities. At its core, it emphasizes the importance of health and well-being as key elements for improving quality of life and the region’s attractiveness, with a focus on ensuring equal access to healthcare for all residents.
