CHUK's Dr HabimanaGaspard was recently recognised through the Severance Hospital University Global Leadership Award for his distinguished impact in his home country after training at the Institution. Dr Gaspard, currently the only Paediatric Gastroenterologist in the country, becomes the Fifth Specialist to win the Award in a Ceremony Graced by Rwanda's Ambassador to the Republic of , Nkubito Manzi Bakuramutsa.

The Achievement recorded at where he continues to serve many Children with cases requiring highly specialised intervention, is a remarkable milestone in continued quality improvement at our facility and in general.

The Award recognises individuals who embody the "severance spirit" by community services, clinical practices, medical education, or health research for medically underserved communities.

A team of Eight Senior Staff from US's University of Michigan visited this Monday to discuss key areas of cooperation in Clinical training. The delegation led by Prof Akbar Waljee had exchanges with the hospital Clinical Management focusing on Rwanda's healthcare system, CHUK's training role and potential areas of collaboration in promoting quality training at Teaching Hospital.

University of Michigan is a Globally renowned Public Health Research Giant and one of US's leading Institutions largest share of Research annually.

13 Rwandan COSECSA FCS & MCS candidates passed their Exit Exams this week in Bujumbura..Nine trained at CHUK, and Four at Rwanda and Rwanda Military Hospital.
A proud moment for Rwanda’s surgical training programmes. CHUK is an Accredited Training Institute in Fellowship and Membership training programmes for and in different specialties/sub-specialties.

Rwanda joined COSECSA on 2007 and has ever since hosted two COSECSA Conferences and Exit Exams in 2009 and 2018 respectively.

Imaging Technicians&Biomedical Staff, today received a hand-on training on the recently acquired state-of-the-art MRI. Being the first of its kind at , the cutting-edge equipment is set to start serving our clients this week. It is an added value to advance clinical services and education for the next generation of Rwandan health professionals.

The Hospital has been sending Patients with MRI tests prescriptions to other facilities with the service, adding to Patients' medical costs and delays in diagnostics-based treatment.

The through its Antimicrobial Stewardship today joined the Globe to mark the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week which started Tuesday. The annual event aims at increasing awareness on Microbial Resistance effects due to improper prescriptions, abuse and poor management of Antibiotics.

Various activities will continue throughout the week at CHUK and across the country, focusing on Infection Prevention and Control . Hygiene is very crucial in prevention and fighting bacterial infections, leading to the use and abuse of Antibiotics and the resulting Antimicrobial Resistance.

According to Dr Leopold Bitunguhari, head of the CHUK AMR Stewardship, Fighting Anti-microbial Resistance cannot succeed without joint efforts and education campaign is vital, because poor management of antibiotics poses human and environment threat.

A two-day Workshop on High-Consequence&Emerging Infectious Diseases for Master trainers with focus on improving Critical care, Infectious disease Management Infection Prevention and Control concluded this Tuesday at 's state-of-the-art Simulation Centre.The Simulation-based training was organised by CHUK and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin where 33 Clinical staff from CHUK & were trained.

The skills are crucial for Rwanda's preparedness for potential future outbreaks.

The first baby born after a successful Intra-Uterine Transfusion at is now 2.5 months old and in good health.The mother who had a history of pregnancy loses due to Rhesus Negative sensitisation, was received by our specialists and went through the procudure at 33 weeks of pregnancy.

Thi marks the first successful case of its kind in and a significant achievement in advancing and Maternal-fetal Medicine in particular.
