RBC in collaboration with Africa CDC conducted a capacity-building training for emergency hotline operators to enhance their knowledge on Event-Based Surveillance ( ) - a key tool for quick detection, alert and timely response to public health threats.

EBS is a critical component of the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) system. It enables the early detection and reporting of signals that may indicate public health threats, complementing indicator-based surveillance systems.

officially launched the 3-year project “Transforming Rwanda Biomedical Centre into an Excellence Hub for National and Regional Public Health (TRIBE-HUB)”.

📌From 2025 to 2028 TRIBE HUB Project aims to:

✅Enhance Public Health Expertise at RBC and Partner Institutions.
✅Contextualize gender-sensitive data to guide health strategies
✅Strengthen digital Infrastructure for real-time disease monitoring.
✅Translate evidence into policy.
✅Transform Rwanda into a hub for public health innovation in Africa

Speaking on the session “Leading the way: Rwanda's groundbreaking achievements in reaching UNAIDS global HIV targets ahead of time” Dr. Gallican Rwibasira, the Division Manager HIV, STI, Viral Hepatitis and Other Viral Diseases Control underscored the critical role of community-centered approach, strong political will and strategic partnership as the driving force for the remarkable achievement in response.

“ Rwanda witnessed a decline in new HIV Infections of 82% and over the time the prevalence has been reduced. We achieved 95-95-95 global targets ahead of 2030 thanks to the strong partnership, good political will and Community engagement; that supported the adherence to the treatment and reduction of stigma & discrimination to people living with HIV."
