Optometrist:
Job Description:
We are looking for a junior-mid level qualified Optometrist who will not only conduct eye exams and contact lens assessments but will build relationships with customers to understand their needs and recommend products accordingly. They are expected to maintain consistently ambitious standards of the eye-testing clinic and laboratory work and enjoy interacting with customers daily.
As and when needed, they are also expected to manage the shop's retail software fully (POS, Cash Management, Expenses etc.), deal with the store customers and coordinate with the sales staff, ensuring they build long-lasting relationships with customers to understand their needs and recommend products accordingly. It is expected of him/her to maintain consistently ambitious standards of laboratory work as well as enjoy interacting with customers on a daily basis.
It is also expected from time to time that He/She supports the business owner in managing and dealing with all kinds of store's suppliers, for example: suppliers of frames, sunglasses, eyeglasses, prescription and cosmetic contact lenses, machinery, tools & equipment, and other service and maintenance providers. The objective is to ensure the best practices are applied in the store's overall management.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The main duties or day-to-day responsibilities of the chosen candidate cover (but are not limited to) the following:
- Perform optometric examinations, testing, refraction and fitting of soft and hard contact lenses for patients with myopia, hyperopia, aphakia, astigmatism, post-surgical cases, i.e., trauma, cataract, PKP and aberrations such as keratoconus, scarring, trauma, droplet keratopathy.
- Manage contact lens supplies, lenses, equipment and solutions.
- Ensure compliance of other staff with relevant Governmental and health regulations, policies and procedures.
- Perform low vision evaluations.
- Perform direct supervision and involvement in the area of pediatric aphakic and rigid contact lenses.
- Manage the optical shop's eye-testing clinic and its tools & equipment.
- Deal with the store customers and coordinate with the sales staff
- Manage filing, scanning & shredding important medical documents in the store.
- Manage quality communication, customer support and product representation for each customer.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion and removal with patience and attention to individual needs.
- Measure intraocular pressure using the tools and equipment available at hand.
- Obtain medical history and properly record it into customer management software's database.
- Verify orders, answer phones, and ensure compliance with the Government's regulations
- Maintain and troubleshoot sophisticated optical instruments.
- Maintain the cleanliness of all equipment, workstations and the overall facility on a daily basis.
- Collect patient medical history and enter all information into the POS system.
Qualifications:
To apply for this role, the candidate must be a qualified Optometrist (أخصائي بصريات), and is expected to have:
- A Degree in Optometry and a recognized professional certification (Doctor of Optometry)
- A valid registration license from both home country (if applicable) and from the Saudi Ministry of Health as well as the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties
- Dataflow certificate or similar
- At least 2 years' experience in a similar role (will be given preference over fresh candidate)
- Proficient in Arabic and English, both written and verbal communication skills
