Essential exercises for a strong back following spinal fusion surgery
It’s so important to keep the muscles around your spine and fusion strong following surgery and we swear by these two essential resistance band exercises, which cover all of your main upper to mid back muscles. The “Arms Above Head” and the “Arms Behind Back”.
Arms Above Head
Works your upper to mid back muscles (trapezius, rhomboids and latissimus dorsi) and your biceps and core.
Arms Behind Back (a John Rutherford physiotherapist exercise)
Works your upper back muscles, rhomboids, the one between your shoulder blades, as well as triceps and core.
Find these exercises and more in The Scoliosis Handbook which goes alongside our Scoliosis and Spinal Fusion home study course.
