Diabethics

Diabethics Science about diabetes, particular the autoimmune form. Frequent lectures about diabetes. Key areas are etiology, complications, technology and a cure.

A few years ago I decided to leave a fun and successful work within Sales that I have had for twenty years of which the last six was in Sales Management, and try to contribute in the world of diabetes. I started Diabethics in 2015, the name is a combination of diabetes and ethics. Reason is that I personally don’t think any other disease meet so much pseudoscience, with promises of cures and things that make us walk on water. In order to make progresses in research we must battle bunk. I have never felt sick with my autoimmune diabetes/T1D, unfortunately this is rare and I'm not significant for the mass. As a scientific nerd who has read everything about diabetes since literally day one at diagnosis, I have had use of this knowledge to manage the disease. Over the years I have had dialogues with researchers within diabetes all around the world, of curiosity but also to look beyond the headlines and maximize my chances. I work full time as Scientific Diabetes Writer, have frequent lectures and do some consulting. I am independent, but if to blame for any connection that would be: in service to diabetes science. Having scientific knowledge about diabetes, the ability to communicate and being bold and eager have helped me ensure very important progresses in Sweden for people with diabetes. Most important was my first project, to totally change the way sensor-based technology was handled by the government/regions: http://www.diabethics.com/science/50-shades-of-diabetes/. During the Spring 2020, in the pandemic and COVID-19 crisis, I managed to reach out more than ever in the chaotic situation where diabetes was mentioned early as a high risk factor for worse outcome. Hundreds of posts and particular three comprehensive articles where I explained the Science behind the headlines: http://www.diabethics.com/science/diabetes-does-not-mean-being-immunocompromised/, http://www.diabethics.com/science/risks-with-covid-19-and-diabetes/ and http://www.diabethics.com/science/covid-19-and-diabetes-uk/. I hope to contribute a little, but I can't give personal, medical advises since I don't have a medical license. Read more http://www.diabethics.com/about-diabethics/.
