Dr Yap Tiong Peng presented on his latest research on public health interventions to combat childhood myopia at the 2025 International Myopia Summit. Organised by the Singapore National Eye Centre, the event was attended by many global leaders and experts in myopia along with local and international practitioners.

👋 Pakistan, here we go! 🎉 This morning, our consultant Dr Yap Tiong Peng was part of an esteemed line up of experts who spoke on the topic of strabismus and amblyopia at the international symposium hosted by The University of Faisalabad. This was held in conjunction with the World Orthoptic Day. “It was great sharing our experience in Singapore on vision therapy”, said Dr Yap. As Singapore’s first vision therapy provider, many children and adults already have good success with vision therapy, and its benefits extends beyond visual acuity but also stereopsis, binocularity and the quality-of-life. Besides vision therapy, Dr Yap also spoke about refractive treatment and occlusion therapy.

It’s been an incredibly busy weekend as our team participated at the International Myopia Summit. Our consultant Dr Yap Tiong Peng presented his work on Behavioural Change Strategies in Myopia Control. As Singapore’s first Behavioural Optometrist, Dr Yap utilised the well-established COM-B model as a framework to analyse the Behaviour Change that can help to improve spectacle compliance to combat childhood myopia in Singapore. With the technological advancements in myopia control lenses, he explored some innovative public health interventions that can help to complement the existing National Myopia Programme.
