In this video, Master Saumik explains how bone structure—like the length of your femur—can set your natural limit.
For example, if you have a short femur bone and a longer hip socket, your thigh will meet your hip sooner when bringing your knee to your chest. That’s why, even with open hamstrings and a flexible back, you might not get the knee all the way in.

Downward Facing Dog isn’t just a stretch — it’s a shoulder strength test.

That was the biggest takeaway from yesterday’s Yin & Yang Yoga with Anatomy & Therapy workshop. 🙏

We started with education — learning how pain, stiffness, or injury comes not from age, but from not knowing our own body structure.
Then we moved through energising Yang flow, awakening strength and circulation 🌞
Followed by soft, supported Yin practice, helping the body gently release and settle 🌙

We ended in silence — with the rebounding pose — not rushing to “do”, but allowing the practice to absorb.

✨ That’s how you truly get the most out of yoga:
Not by chasing the perfect shape, but by honouring your own anatomy and letting energy flow intelligently.

Does hitting a handstand or sliding into splits mean you’ve “made it” in yoga?

Maybe not.

Real advancement in yoga isn’t about how deep you go — but how well you know yourself inside the pose.

🧘‍♂️ Can you stay calm in Warrior 2?
🌬 Can you regulate your breath in Downward Dog?
🧠 Can you feel subtle shifts in your spine and joints?

That’s advanced.

Because without nervous system control, body awareness, and quiet strength — big poses are just big risks.

Think pulling yourself deeper into a forward fold makes you “better” at yoga?

Here’s a smarter way to fold — one that protects your hamstrings, builds strength, and actually improves flexibility over time.👇

✨ Engage your thighs. Lift your kneecaps.
This one cue switches your stretch from passive to active.

Why it works:
✅ Activates your quads → hamstrings release safely
✅ Protects the back of your knees
✅ Builds control, not just range

Try this in your next forward fold (standing or seated):
🔹 Straighten but don’t lock your knees
🔹 Gently contract your thighs — feel your kneecaps lift
🔹 Flex your feet if seated
🔹 Hinge from hips and fold with awareness

You’ll notice more control, less strain, and a deeper connection.

💡Flexibility without control leads to injury. But mobility with strength? That’s progress.
