We’re excited to share that the Equal Dreams x Goh Chok Tong Enable Fund has been renewed until May 2026 (or until funds are fully utilised).

This fund allows us to provide free or subsidised accessibility services, with the aim to ease the barriers and financial burden that disabled individuals face in lifelong learning.

Check out the different frames to learn more, and feel free to share this with other disabled friends, family, or community members who might benefit!

How can we make conversations about su***de more accessible to disabled communities — so they, too, can support someone who may be having thoughts of ending their life?

Thanks to a grant from the NCSS 4ST Partnership Fund, Equal Dreams had the opportunity to co-conduct three safeTALK workshops in collaboration with social worker-educator Cheng Hwee Fern. These workshops equipped participants with the skills to recognise and respond to signs of su***de.

Each session was designed with a specific community in mind:
1. The Deaf and hard of hearing community
2. The blind and low vision community
3. The neurodivergent community

To make the training accessible and inclusive, we incorporated features such as:
- Singapore Sign Language interpretation
- Speech-to-text interpretation
- Having a support person who has worked closely with, or identifies as being from the community
- Visual interpretation
- Assistive tech–friendly resources (e.g., screen reader compatibility)
- Calm room for participants needing a sensory break

As our Team Lead Hidayat mentioned, we were heartened to witness how these workshops sparked meaningful discussions on how the experience of su***de might manifest differently within each community. By making this programme accessible, we hope to grow the pool of disabled people who are equipped with su***de prevention skills, so that they can offer support to both within their own communities and beyond.

Our hope for the future? Fern couldn’t have said it better: “Imagine if someone sees a trainer from their own community. That trust and motivation to learn more about su***de prevention would be that much stronger.”

POV: You’re starting your Singapore Sign Language journey.

Learning any new language is a challenge—but a signed language adds a whole new dimension. You’re not just memorising signs; you’re creating meaning in 3D space, using facial expressions, body shifts, and other grammatical features.

Our instructors are here to support you every step of the way—with weekly 1-on-1 feedback, a Telegram group to practise outside class, and a resource bank of class videos to help you review.

Join this General Elections 2025 Watch Party — with Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) and Speech-to-Text interpretation!

There is no official Deaf access for this crucial national event, so a group of access professionals have come together, in their personal capacities, to make this possible — with support from community allies.

🕗 Starts at 8PM on Zoom, based on the CNA live broadcast.

Join us at the Zoom link below, or scan the QR code in the poster.

Please share around with your deaf friends and family, or anyone else who might find these access features beneficial.

Note: This is a community-led initiative, and is not organised by Equal Dreams. Some of our team members are volunteering their time to support it in various capacities.
