Naturally, men do need more energy (aka calories), generally speaking, than women, as it's easier for them to build and maintain lean muscle, meaning they burn energy faster.

Similarly, your food portions will vary dependent on your ultimate goal. If you're looking to lose weight, you'll need to eat slightly smaller portions; if it's weight maintenance you're after, aim for the average for your gender (more on that below); and obviously, if you're looking to gain weight, you'll need to eat in a calorie surplus. 😉
