Screen time is a boon and a bane. As with any technological advancement, it can lead to deterioration of society if let uncontrolled. If an individual family unit cannot maintain the control, can a government take control then? Singapore isn’t the first country to implement such a policy. However, what does it mean and what does it become?

Research has shown how screens can negatively impact a child’s development. It is like eating on croutons and expecting to get your daily nutrients from it. These developmental deficits can impact the child’s life going into adolescence and potentially adulthood, as bad habits are hard to break while new ones are harder to form.

We encourage parents to spend some time with their children everyday. Quality over quantity. Make meal time available for discussions, not criticisms. Children look up to their parents naturally. When they look away, it may be challenging to get them to look back.

Stay strong parents.
